"My real job, right now, is that I manage the cashiers at a restaurant supply store. So I spend all day scribbling on receipts to make sure everything is paid for. I am known as the pen guy because I carry one of my hand made pens with me. My boss had asked for a pen for his birthday and so I wanted to make him a pen that was usable in our environment but still nice. I had seen these at our local pen-turners guild meeting and thought I would give them a try. I went with the starter pack to get the bushing and I wanted to make myself one of these to see how I liked them. Needless to say these pen have performed better than I could have hoped. They have a smooth click that is quiet in use. The Parker refill offers more options then the cross refills do. I will add these to my standard inventory as the one I sold sold quick and easy to someone I showed."
"I recently bought this system and I installed it over last couple days. I installed it from the ceiling of my shop and I am pretty happy with the whole setup. Only two things you could change, make the included connector hose more pliable rather than stiff like it is and on the suspension assembly where the the knob connects for tightening the boom could have reversible pieces, the carriage bolt has a small square on the head that can only be put in one way, I installed 4" hose suction from the left side and the connector hose blocks the knob for tightening, other that, it's a wonderful systems I've needed for a long time. Thank you."
"I have purchased bushings from Penn state in the past and had very good results. These are no exception. The finish is harder than the competition which prevents them from the turning tool. I will buy other bushings for future projects."
"I would imagine there is no reviews on this yet because those that have purchased aren't sure what to make of it. The idea is nice, the execution is not exemplary. The interior felt linings are cheap and easily torn by the interior box Hinges. I have yet to take this out of my house and these are already torn. If you have larger pens like the dragon, they protrude into the plastic, causing the lid to bow when closed. The interior felt grooves that hold then pens are thick, deep and blocks the view of the pen, so it doesn't work very well as a display case to really display the pens- there should have been a removable part above that when removed shows off the pen profiles better. Also, the case that I had the clear acrylic/plastic lid has a ripple in it from manufacturing that is unsightly. For some reason they chose to make the exterior hinge a disconnecting/removeable type that constantly slides out of alignment making it hard to close. This is great that they did this on the interior Hinges so that you can remove the clear acrylic/plastic lids but unnecessary on the exterior hinge.
Penn State normally delivers a high quality product at a good price, but I just feel like this missed the mark."
"This is the second of these pens that I've made and once again does not disappoint. The weight and level of detailing are the things that always seems to impress people that see this pen.
I'm going to be turning a bunch of these for this years Renaissance Festival."
