Give it a try, and put your own "spin" on it!
"I purchased this set to make as a display model. My intention was not to sell it, but to show the vast options that Pennstate has available. However, one of my best repeat customers wanted it and offered a reasonable amount. I veered away from the instructions a bit, so several things I'd like to share... One, the cast components are not perfect, which I liked because it added that much character to the set. Second, this does require a tenon cut all the way to the brass tube. (Which I quite don't understand why, since I just cut the blank short to allow the brass tube to stick out about 1/4". It worked great.) Third, I do feel the handle for the magnifying glass and the letter opener are too small. (that's why the 4 starts). So I cut the brass tube in half and used each half on both ends of the full 5" blank. Worked like a charm! But you do need a drill bit longer than 5". Lastly, I did not go all the way to the bushings. I left about 1/8" around the tail ends of the component. I combined all the kits with the "Lava Bright with Deep Copper Gold Thread, and it was the perfect combination that complimented the gold finish components with the golden swirls. Turned out marvelous! Give it a try, and put in your own "spin" on it."

Attractive with most materials
"The pen finishes easily and well and shows off woods and favors acrylics that don't overpower the trim on the pen. It's an attractive pen of a mid-weight that will be popular for both men and women. I plan to keep one for my own use."
