I had been hesitant to get a drill chuck, but I wish now that I had gotten it sooner. It works like a dream. I'm glad that I got the 1/2 inch, so that it will hold all of our bits.

There are many reasons to like the chuck. It is heavy-weight and well balanced; the tapers fit tight and the jaws hold 1/8" - 1/2" bits without slipping. It easily installs and releases from the tailstock. It is accurate enough to drill into turned pieces and opening up 1/2" holes for hollowing. The chuck is an excellent accessory and a real bargain for its price. The only disadvantage I noticed is that the tightening collar tends to slip when tightened, but this seems to have no effect on the gripping power.
If you are having difficulty drilling a perfectly centered hole in pen blanks, this is the product for you. Attach it to the dead center and clamp the blank in the chuck and presto, a perfectly centered hole!

The 1/2" Drill Chuck #2MT works great with my new Jet JWL-1220VW Lathe. Finish and fit are perfect!
On the 1st day that I had the lathe, I tried drilling a spindle blank with a simple twist drill. No problem!
A week later I put a 5" long spindle in my scroll chuck and hollowed it with a 1 1/2" Forstner bit. Worked like a charm!
I would recommend this accessory to any turner.

This is a great addition to my lathe. I use it a lot and do most of my drilling with this tool.
