These pens were made under a contract with the Plimoth Patuxet Museum in Plymouth, MA. They were made from 100+year old English Oak reclaimed during the restoration of the Mayflower II. The nautical pen in pewter was specifically requested to keep consistency with the nautical theme and historic metals used in colonial times. This year I have made 54 nautical pens and expect more orders next year. The single tube simplifies the turning, and the look of the nautical details of the finished item capture the theme and mission of the museum. This is a great pen for using historically relevant wood with nautical themes.
