Keyless Mandrel

NOT KEYLESS!! Uses 2 rods instead of wrenches. Once you loosen the two nuts, you have a challenge moving the mandrel; it does not come free easily. This is in my box of stuff I never use and wish i had not purchased.

Fall short of expectations

I have been a CNC Machinist for 30+ years so when someone says they have a time saving idea I listen. The idea of this mandrel is great but the execution in manufacturing is lacking. The nut and collet are not connected in any way so the nut does not release the collet and it will remain stuck in the taper. This takes away the idea that you can quickly adjust the length of the mandrel. No you have to remove the entire mandrel take off the nut and tap the collet until it releases. Bad design.

Excellent mandrel. Does not require any spacers and the length of mandrel can be changed very easily.

Awesome

Didn't realize it until got it but it's basically just a collet chuck with a mandrel. I also use this to true up my 7mm blanks. I don't know how big of a shaft it will take yet but an awesome multipurpose tool.

Handy mandrel

Well made. Easy to use. Simplifies mounting pen blanks. A handy feature is that the mandrel can be removed from the lathe with the current set up intact if something else needs turning.

keyless pen mandrel is great!

The mandrel is well machined and enables a toolless arbor length change in just seconds. I recommend it highly. It is a great, inexpensive alternative to other adjustable arbor/chuck systems.

Awesome Mandrel

I have had so many problems with other mandrels but this one is so much easier to use! It also has remained unwarped which for some reason has always been a problem before. I would highly recommend this mandrel primarily because you can proceed so much faster from project to project.

adjustable mandrel works!

It costs 1.5 x's the sliding mandrel but works better. No need to keep 2 wrenches at the lathe. Centering is perfect. Can turn one 2.5 inch k-scope then switch immediately to a 5" pen!
