This is a great chuck for the price. Easy to maintain. One must be careful with the jaw screws not to over tighten. I had to drill one out. Molded case not very good, chuck key does not fit and neither do some other loose parts. Still a very good value. I also ordered the jumbo jaws and they are invaluable. The directions could be better, i.e. expaining how to use some of the jaws. I have turned numerous bowls and other projects. No complaints.
This chuck came on time and after mounting it I was able to start turning cabinet knobs in minutes. I was very happy with the range of jaws in the case and so far have tried all but one on some piece of work or another. I really like the simple solid construction which has one benefit I never read about and that is the ease of clean up.
If there were any negatives it would be that the plastic case was cracked and the chuck wrench does not actually seem to have a designated space in the case. No big deal for me.
This is one that I would tell anyone to buy.

As a novice turner, I was apprehensive about buying my first chuck. After reading reviews and then making my purchase, I couldn't be happier. The value of this kit for the money is fantastic in that it includes all the tools and 4 sets of jaws. The kit is very easy to use, and although instructions come with it, I did not need them to turn my first piece. Using the key to tighten the chuck was easy, and I like the smooth operation of the gears as you turn the key. The chuck is well balanced -- in fact, I couldn't tell the difference when I mounted it on my Jet JWL-1220, and the jaws are easily replaceable. I would recommend this to anyone considering a purchase such as this.
