The 5 micron bag advantage
Standard 5 micron super high filtration bags are now available for all Penn State Dust Collectors. These bags are guaranteed to capture the finest sawdust, powders, paint and cement dusts. These bags are constructed from a special polyester felt material with a glaze interior treatment that prevents clogging. The 5 micron mesh will capture particles 1/6th the size of those captured by traditional bags. We added our exclusive "Vu-Thru Window" feature on the DC1B-5, DC2-5 and Super DC250 dust collector models. Now a quick glance will show you the dust level in your bag!

Q: Will the 5 micron bags inhibit the air flow of the dust collector?

A: No. The thickness of the felt expands the effective surface area of the bag to actually increase airflow while reducing the effective mesh size. Additionally, the specially treated interior glaze avoids the buildup of a filter cake that typically will reduce airflow on bags with a woven construction. In the long run the 5 micron bags will actually pass more air then their 30 micron/woven counterparts.
