This unit is heavy duty and well thought out. My only issue with the product is the hose from the tube to the dust hood but everyone seems to think that's an issue. I found a Dorfman Car ventilation tube that is flexible and works well. I needed to make mine mobile because I have to move my saw out and back in my small shop. I built this with some wood, a set of casters and three 25 pound weights I got off a Facebook Free Group in my town. It can stand alone with no issues.

I am very pleased with the design of this unit. As mentioned many times in the reviews the instructions are a bit on the weak side, but since I have an engineering background I was able to figure it out pretty well. The drawing that shows the setback from the centerline of the saw blade and the elevation could be combined into a single end view of the table saw with the blade shown and the end of the overarm pipe above at 19" from the table and back 4" from the center of the blade.
I mounted mine from the ceiling which gets it up and out of the way. I did the vertical mount with the long cross tube to get the dust outlet near my ceiling drop for the table saw and jointer.
The weak point is with the actual saw guard mounting to the trapezoid swing arm, this tin piece of plastic will be replaced with a 1/8" thick piece of aluminum in future, not a real big deal. we will see how well the plastic piece holds up over time.

I have two back-to-back tablesaws in my shop. My primary working saw is a Powermatic 66 equipped with an over the blade dust collection guard made by another manufacturer. Dust is collected from below the enclosed saw cabinet as well as over the blade. It works well and I am happy with its performance. My secondary saw is an old Rockwell contractors saw which I've had since 1974, installed across from my Powermatic. Since it is a contractors saw, collecting dust is a problem due to its open supporting frame. Thus, I rarely used it to avoid throwing sawdust all over the shop. Recently I made a fully enclosed cabinet stand for the saw, sealed all openings and tied it into my collection system, but still needed to solve the over the blade dust problem.
I found the PSI product online to be a great value for a quality product. I was concerned about it meeting my needs, as I wanted to install it on the left side of the saw. Doing so would not work using an overarm floor mount installation, so I chose to mount it on the ceiling. This product can be installed either way, but the ceiling mount installation required that the ceiling height be no more than 8 feet above the floor. My shop has 10 foot ceilings. I was able to adapt the installation by making a sturdy ceiling mounted fixture to which I could attach the vertical steel mast of the dust collection guard. I have attached photos of the fixture showing what other customers can do to use this product when a ceiling mount application is needed and their ceilings are higher than the 8 foot design limitation. The photos show that I made my fixture to pivot up out of the way if ever I need additional vertical clearance above my tablesaw. When in use it is pinned in the vertical position. To swing it up out of the way I just need to remove two dowel pins from the swing joint.
Now I have solid dust collection above and below the contractors saw and will able to incorporate the use of this saw in my work without concern for spewing dust all over the shop. It works great.
The PSI blade guard/collector is a solid product and the price is of exceptional value for what they provide in the package. Anyone in need of employing this kind of dust collection on their tablesaw will be pleased the performance of this product and can be sure it can be altered or adapted t their specific installation requirements.

This dust collector was exactly what I needed. When you buy something like this you have to figure their will be a learning curve in the assembly as our shops are all different. The one thing that many of the reviews stated is the hose is stiff and caused the hood to not be parallel to the fence. Didn't have to change the hose just used a zip tie to adjust the hood as shown in the picture.

The debate was whether or not to build my own based on the many diy videos available and buying this system which stayed within the budget. I went for the quicker purchase & install.
The materials in the package are solid, delivery was prompt and well packaged. I expected to have to adapt to having a guard in the way for certain cuts and it has proven true for ripping thinner stock say 4? wide or less. If the arm (or ceiling mount) allowed for an easy swing out of the way I would be happier with the system. The clear plastic supplied hose will be replaced as it hurts the function. Just need to find the right hose?.Why Penn hasn?t changed this given all the comments in reviews is a mystery.
Following the directions for placement when installing, I expected a smoother performance but I find with the ceiling mount at the recommended 19? above the table is too low. When I raise the guard for a narrow rip, the unit interferes with my vision of the cut and I don?t feel comfortable making the cut. I am going to increase the height from the table, if it will allow for the guard mechanism to still reach down close enough when in use to pull the dust. It?s possible that I may have to more the mast back from the blade in addition to raising the height.
I hope with adjustments that this unit will reach a 3.5-4 star rating. The unit has helped reduce shop dust during ripping of 4? and wider boards. I expected some adjustments based on the reviews but, I think we always hope for a tool to just work right out of the box. I think dust collection is an area that is hard to have this be the case. It is also an area I have to spend more time on than I desire. I just want to build and yet I find hat a cleaner shop is truly worth it.

Likes - shipping, arrived at my house in 48 hours, unbelievable! 5 stars! Packaging- I never received anything packaged this well. Double boxed, Styrofoam spacers, 5 stars. Instructions - leaves a little to be desired but if you study the diagram and lay it out it goes together fairly easy. 3.5 stars. I knew going to make modifications to suit my dust collection system but I assembled and tried it out prior to making modifications to see if they would be justified. Using the components in the box it just doesn't work well at all. Either hooked up to a shop vac or to my 3 hp Oneida. There are several reasons for this. As previous reviews have stated the hose that is supplied is crap. It is so stiff that it causes the hood to tilt dramatically and not sit parallel the saw top. The hood allows to much air in. The piping is reduced twice before it gets to the hood and where the pipes slide together that seam is supposed to be filled with a rubber O ring that fits over the smaller pipe and butts up to the lager pipe. As with all dust collection there is just to much air leaking. I would have really been mad if I hadn't already decided to make modifications. I built my own hood making it large enough to handle 4 inch flexible hose. I then ran the hose directly into 6 in pipe. Result...awesome! I couldn't be happier with it. Would I recommend to a friend? Only if the were going to do the modifications I did.

Very sturdy, made of heavy duty materials, strong construction. Built like a tank! Though it can be moved vertically, to get it up off the table, there is no easy means to swing it totally out of the way when it interferes with certain cuts. The provided, 2-1/2??? hose that connects to the plexiglas hood is altogether too stiff. I immediately replaced it with a more flexible hose. Lots of thought went into packaging the product, which is very well protected in a custom, double layer box plus molded styrofoam.

With a little adaption, it works great! I moved the dust exhaust port from the top of the plastic unit to the rear thus allowing the unit to more easily move up and down depending upon the thickness of the wood to be sawn. The original hose was too stiff preventing the unit from moving easily up and down. I replaced the original hose with a more flexible one. If you don't mind a little tweaking, this is a fine unit. I hope the manufacturer will take note of this and make changes to future units.

I bought my TS Guard through Amazon Canada, took 9 days to arrive, received it on March 9/18. It was well packaged (no damage), it was easy to install on my older General 350 saw and it performs very well. I was about to buy an Excalibur unit for twice the money until I saw PSI's system on line. I thought I was taking a chance buying this item, not so, it is worth the money. Thank you PSI woodworking. I bought this version mainly due to it's simple design and the fact that it was half the cost of competing brands. Most of the others available cost over 400 bux and had guards that appeared to extend away from the blade too far for my liking. The guard on the Penn State model contours much closer to the blade, which allows better access closer to the blade without trying to work underneath the guard. I somewhat customized mine by mounting the arm on a beam above my table, which can be moved easily laterally and for and aft if I move the saw. Instead of connecting the hose from the guard to the horizontal arm, I bypassed this and ran a more flexible hose all the way up overhead to my beam where it connects to a pvc branch off my main dust collection line. Overall I am very pleased with the flexibility of the unit, which allowed me to customize it to suit my needs, and also the cost compared to other brands. The directions state that all the parts are available for purchase individually, which is an added plus. In the future, I plan on purchasing a second unit for our other table saw to replace an old worn out guard that I rigged up years ago.

As others have said, the directions leave something to be desired, but the product is nice, and customer service is wonderful. I may eventually mount this from the ceiling, but I thought to go traditional for now. Since my set up is stationary (so blessed to have the space) I screwed the base pole to the floor and used the stretchers to counter the sag created by the weight of the boom. Although this unit sucks up much of the saw dust, the high velocity coming off the blade precludes getting it all. I'll have to check on what RST did to increase the uptake. The clear "flexible" hose is too stiff!!! Woodcraft has a very flexible hose you can use. Good value!!
