Nice blanksI was a little scared because of how much brown is in the picture. And the blanks themselves had it as well. But its just a little bit on the surface and it disappears well before you reach round. This has all the problems of ebony, its brittle and cracks. You need to do an exceptional job of gluing to make sure the tubes are fully stuck to the blank or you may tear it up in a thin area.

good qualityGood quality blanks with nice even dark coloring, but I personally had a very difficult time getting them to take a polish.

Ebony crackingEbony is a beautiful wood and easy to turn. However, these blanks typically come with cracks. Even when turned, egony has a large tendency to crack. This happened to me in using it for a Majestic Junior roller ball. Thus, I was very disappointed. Any hints on how to fix or prevent ebony from cracking?

Not a big fan of the ebonyI've had a few disappointments with the ebony. The grain does not show through at all, so the pen basically looks pitch black. I was hoping for some grain. Also, I seem to have a high incidence of cracking as I get close to the core. May just be me, but this is not only wood I'm having that issue with and I've used woods from the premium and tropical packs.

Excellent Value in Ebony Pen StockVery nice Ebony blanks- consistent color and grain quality across multiple pieces. Turns easily and polishes to a very high sheen. Easily builds to a mirror finish. Excellent value for the money in 3/4" pen blanks. Highly recommended for inlay and pen barrels.

Ebony blanksSuperb! To die for! Turns well, polishes out like glass, and color is consistant. I use this for my accents in my turned pieces but am now going to make a complete pen out of one of the blanks.

Caution Using EbonyThe blanks are really attractive and they turn to produce a great result. However, there should be a notice about how difficult Ebony is to work with. Drilling is difficult, the resulting product will crack easily.
