Barell trimming is an essential step for making a quality pen project. Its used to square the end of your pen blanks and pen tubes prior to final pen kit assembly. The trimmer includes a cutting shaft that fits into a drill chuck or lathe chuck - the shaft will clean the glue from the tubes and act as a pilot for the 3/4" squaring cutter. 7mm basic barrel trimmer Includes 7mm pilot shaft, 5/8" squaring cutter and wrench

these barrel trimmers seem to dull very easily i bought two and had same problems

I'm not a big fan of unitaskers in the shop, any more than Alton Brown (Good Eats on Food Network) is fond of them in the kitchen. However, I guess making sure that the barrel is square to the brass tube I just glued into it requires something like this little beasty. It does the job well. If you're planning to turn a lot of pens, you should probably buy the carbide version.

I like the top piece better than on the old ones. I used to snap the tops off of the old ones.
