Great, fast projectGood quality project that was easy to turn and finish. Makes a unique gift for Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts, campers or anyone with an outdoor fireplace or firepit.

scouting projectThis is a great project if you or your son are in the Boy Scouts. If you or someone in your pack or troup has a lathe have a turning day. Help your guys earn a badge, not to mention they will have a great tool for their campouts and hikes.

Really great projectIf you like camping or outdoor activities this is an extremely nice project to make. The compass on the backside is extremely handy. I drilled the hole extra deep for mine because I did not want to accidentally ding it against something. From start to finish the whole project took about 30 minutes. I used Ipe for the handle. With 20,000 strikes, this should outlast me.

Nie kitThe quality of this kit is great. The one problem I had was that the Magnisium shaft is far less than 5/8 in diameter. I drilled the 5/8 hole, turned the handle and then realized that the hole was to big. Had to use expanding glue to make it all work, and be tight. Measure the shaft size before you drill!!! You may be able to avoid the same problem I had.
