Colors Can vary Very Fragile and BLUNTS ToolsColors Can vary from what is in the picture. I Ordered 30 Oceana Blanks and 5 of them had a green color to them. It doesn't look bad, just not what was expected. These blanks dull tools very quickly so be prepared to sharpen often. These blanks are very fragile and can easily blow out when drilling and and turning. Slow and patient is the trick. These blanks darken when finishing. Which works for me but be warned. I start with some wood conditioner to seal everything up and then proceed with a CA finish and polish.

Beautiful mixture of colorsGreat mixture of different types of wood.

Never had a chance to finishI used a barrel trimmer to square off the blanks, the wood totally split and broke off from the brass tube. I have since purchased a sanding jig to square the ends of my blanks, which works pretty well, tho I had to get a sanding disk for the table saw-couldn't afford to buy a disk sander. This hobby just keeps getting more expensive every day, at this rate I would have to charge $200 per pen, if I could sell any! I'm about to give up on the whole thing. I still haven't tuned this into a pen yet, so other than being careful while trimming and turning because of the fragile grain, it's pretty.

Oceana Color GrainLooks great on a designer pen. Gets darker when wax polish is put on.

Very showyI really like the way these turn out, though these laminated blanks always seem to dull my chisels very quickly. But the end product is well worth it!

Awesome colorThese pen blanks are easy to work with and always make a nice pen. I constantly sell out of pens made from the Oceana blank.
