Benjamin's Best High Speed Steel 3/4" Roughing Gouge, 19" long. The roughing gouge is primarily used for aggressively reducing square spindle blanks to round cylinders. The result is a rough cut blank ready for detailing with the spindle gouge a skew chisel. Don't try to use a roughing gouge for bowl turning.

Good quality tool and steel. Great 3/4 roughing gouge and inexpensive enough that I could regrind it into a slightly different experemental shape without too much anxiety.

Quite pleased with this tool. After sharpening, it performed as expected. The weight of the tool makes it very stable for roughing stock down to basic shape and size.
