Carbide Gouge

Using this carbide gouge is time saving because I don't have to sharpen it hardly at all. I just use a diamond card file to keep an edge on it after about 10 turnings. So I spend less time sharpening and more time turning, and time is money as to say.

I turned 200 acrylic pens and letter openers, and only sharpened it twice! Wish it was a couple inches longer for comfort, but it works well.

Great for turning Tru-Stone blanks

I purchased this gouge and the matching skew to turn the Tru-Stone blanks. Light honing is required. As with the skew, the handle hurts my hand, will be replacing w/ standard size handles as soon as I can turn them.

I have used this gouge to make three pens and haven't had to touch it up. Holds a very good edge and is just the right size for pen turning.

I have one complaint with this gouge...it was not sharp when the tools arrived...once I honed it to get a good edge it has been fine.
