Very good tail stock live center. It gives you more room when turning at the tail stock. Allows you to true up the end without hitting the center. Very well balanced. It is well worth this price.

I purchased this live center for pen turning and I could not be happier. The center runs very true and is an excellent purchase for the price. I would recommend this to everyone looking for a quality live center at a very affordable price. Keep up the great work Penn State, for offering quality products!

I am real pleased with this tailstock center. I is nicely made and very smooth. My stock center on my Jet Mini was getting rough and I also wanted this type of center for holding pieces with a small hole at the right end. The taper makes it very versatile. It also looks like the bearing may be accessible with a pin spanner for repair or replacement down the road. A couple of notes: 1) The stock Jet Mini tail center is appproximately .43" shorter and you will have to cut that much off for it to seat and eject properly. I used an angle grinder with a 4" metal cutoff wheel (thin), finished it and beveled the end on a 1" belt sander. I had to do that on the drill chucks I purchased also. 2) As I mentioned, my stock tail center was getting rough and I don't recall any mention of having to lube it. I cleaned it and blew it out the best I could and used router bearing lube. After the lube, I spun it up and it smoothed out like new.

As a pen turner primarily and a lathe user in general, I was having some trouble with what I have since learned is a low quality tailstock live center. I thought that I was somehow messing up a pen turning when all along it was the live center that was untrue. Since purchasing the LCENTLT2 for my lathe, I am amazed at how such a small item can make such a large difference in the quality of a piece of wood turned on a lathe. The precision workmanship and heavy duty manufacturing of this live center has saved me time, money and above all, given me confidence in my work. I would and do highly recommenc this product to any wood turner.
