center screw will stripThe center screw is replaceable - it is held in place by a slotted set screw pressing on the flat side of the center screw ... The set screw is soft metal and the slot has stripped - because the set screw would not tighten enough the threads on the center screw have stripped after the second tightening. The 4 inch faceplate has an allen screw which works better.

Good stuffI have (2) 3" faceplates. The one that came with my Turncrafter lathe and the one in this ad, which is the one I prefer to use but usually both have a piece of wood screwed to them. I prefer this one because it is longer and holds the material further away from the headstock which facilitates turning narrow bottoms. Some small chrome pieces have flaked off but thats no big deal.

Easy to use faceplateAll you have to do is find the center of the bowl, drill a pilot, and screw it in. No fiddling around wondering if you have the faceplate centered.

Aluminum FaceplateThe threads were not true 3/4-16, and I had to retap the threads.

Works great!I love this screw chuck! It works well every time. The only issue is that I have to tighten the set screw every time I use it. I would buy this again but I don't need to because the one I have works so well.

Faceplate/Screw ChuckChuck is nicely made with prompt delivery. Two easily replaced center screws, 8mm & 6mm, were an unexpected bonus. One problem: As received, the 6mm screw was not properly machined and required modification on a metal lathe to be useable. However, after the screw modification the chuck performs very well.

3Made very well and is true.

3I am new to turning, but the work I have done with this faceplate has been easy to set up and put on the faceplate with the screw. Just a simple hole drilled in the blank, then screw it onto the chuck and I was ready to begin turning. I look forward to doing much more work using this fine tool.
