"Easy to make. I have made and sold over 200 eggs at art shows. I like to use highly figured wood and give them 3 coats of high gloss lacquer."
"These make a FANTASTIC, magical hand sized gift. They're great for anyone, and I sold a few as Christmas gifts. I was even able to let them customize it as they got to choose which gems to put inside! I just brought them the finished egg, and screwed off the top to let them put in their choice.
They're not too difficult to assemble, I recommend: laying down a piece of tape, then placing the mirrors a few mm apart, then making them into a pyramid but leave the tape easy to peel off. Once the mirrors are in an equilateral triangle shape, slide them into the tube, pull off the tape, then press them all the way in. This worked for all three eggs I've made.
I didn't buy a fancy stand, I have a tiny acrylic ring I sit them on. I also turned a little half inch stand that worked nice too (pictured).
I was also able to use my 3/4" drill bit, then turn out the blank to 13/16" before I could get my hands on the right drill bit, so there is a way to make it if you have a lathe and general tools.
"An excellent kit that will bring your turning to life! I used double dyed spalted tamarind wood for my Irish friends and family. Easy to follow instructions, I highly recommend these kits to sell or give away as gifts year round!"
