#2 Morse Taper Maxi-Mandrel - This new mandrel features a 7mm mandrel shaft that slides through a headstock collet. This feature guarantees a perfectly concentric pen. The mandrel easily adapts to different length projects. Simply mount your tubes and bushings then slide the shaft to the appropriate length and lock it in place. The shorter shaft reduces the likelihood of the mandrel shaft bowing. The collet is tightened with two 7/8" wrenches (NOT included). Maxi-Mandrels include 5 bushings. This item replaces the PKM-FL

This mandrel is well made and makes my pen turning much simpler than using a drill chuck version. There is NO wobble during the turning process at all. Good Product

I have used this type of mandrel for about 4 years. I set it once for length and that was it. It has stood the test of time. I would recommend it for pen makers. I like the fact that it is adjustable in length.

For the price, this would have been a great offer. The adjustible mandrel worked great for smaller pieces of material when turning. The 5 7MM bushings work great for the slimline addition of pens and worked great for other projects. There is one downfall to this product. The material the mandrel is made of appears to have a weak point at the threaded portion. This really isn't a problem as long as you don't tighten the mandrel too tight on the lathe. When unpacking, be sure to look if the mandrel is straight. Other than that, you can't go wrong with this mandrel.
