7/8 x 7/8 x 5 Purple Stabilized Maple Burl
Stabilizing is a process that impregnantes the wood or burl with resins and renders it into an ideal / plastic like turning blank. The finished turned blanks has a vibrant grain and a surface with a brilliant and durable shine.
Stabilized wood has been processed with a resin material.This process can be useful to strengthen punky areas, and it will limit expansion and shrinkage due to changes in humidity and help it resist rot. The stabilizing process does not fill voids.
Stabilized blanks can be worked on a lathe, using standard woodworking techniques and tooling with light touches.
