I never write reviews for any products that I buy, but these simple rods really do the trick. I have salvaged many parts. Hardest part is hand-holding a pen while disassembling it (if you want to save the turning.

pen/pencil disassembly punch set

This set of punches has come in super handy for many operations involving pen assembly - disassembly. There is even a punch to clean out the brass tube if you get a little glue inside.

Nice kit for the money

This collection of punches is probably more than you'll ever need, but it is a good value for the money. I have already discovered another use for the punch rods in an unrelated project, so I recommend the investment.
