New to pen turning. Bought these to keep my start up costs down. Very happy with the quality and sharpness right out of the box. Only bad thing is I haven't used my new sharpening system yet... No need!

These things are freaking great. I love them. I use them to make duck calls and have made about 15 and only sharpened them once with no trouble.

These chisels were very sharp right out of the box and have stayed sharp through many pens. I much prefer these to full size tools for making pens. Excellent little set!

I got these from a suggestion from a friend who was already turning pen and pencil sets. I was not disappointed!!

These mini-lathe tools are a very good value for the money, especially when working with novices. They will hold an edge for a fair amount of time, but are inexpensive enough that I don't cringe everytime one of my freshman drop it on the table rather than putting it back in the tool rack.

I have used the gouge and the skew to turn many pen sets and it is a perfect fit for my hands. I have not yet had to sharpen the skew and sharpened the gouge only once after 20 pens. Even lasted through the turning of an ebony pen. Excellent quality and excellent price.

I ordered a set and right out of the box they were sharp. After a dozen pens they are still sharp. I highly recommend them.

Right out of the box I found that each chisel was of great quality. Sharp enough to do the job immediately. Balance was very good, especially for a novice which made the tools very easy to handle and achieve awesome results on the first try. Thanks for supplying a great product.

I am very glad to have upgraded from the carbon steel to the high speed steel. This is a very nice basic set and it stays sharp for about 10 turnings, as opposed to only about 4 turnings befor sharpening. This is a very affordable set, and it only costs about $10 more than the carbon steel. Inlcudes spindle gouge, skew chisel, and parting tool.
