This was my 1st attempt to collect the dust while turning. As my dust collector used 2" hoses, I made my own adapter by turning a piece of 2x6 to match the opening and drilling a hole thru and attaching an adapter for my hose. This does the job - except it takes a lot of room between your tool and the wall. When the clear hoods came out, I set this aside and started using the hood. Where this excels is when turning bowls, especially during the sanding phase. I would not attempt a bowl without this.
