I was pleasantly surprised with the heft & quality of this chuck. I'm semi new to turning,... but NOT to working with my hands, or with wood,... and the purchase of a good chuck was inevitable,.. I just couldn't bring myself to spend the $250 and up that I thought it would take to get a good quality piece. Well, thankfully I decided to take a chance on getting this chuck, and also ordered the "Jumbo" set of Jaws for it to help turn bowls up to 8" or so,............ And I couldn't be happier. Like the one guy said, "Nothing Fancy,... but it works",............ and it works very well. The only down side I can come up with is that they(PSI) say that its for ANY type lathe,.... well I don't know about putting this on some of the "crappy" Chinese mini lathes that are out there,... because it does weigh in at 5 lbs. and with the big jaws, it has to be at least 8 lbs or more. Having said that, if you have a good MIDI or larger lathe,.... this is the way to go.
