This is the third Carba Tec lathe we've purchased and we're pleased with every one of them. The new one is drastically quieter than the older ones that required a separate motor. Thanks for a great lathe!

The perfect lathe for new turners. small and light, but beefy enough to get the job done.

The lathe worked well right out of the box. Plenty of torque for a small lathe. I turned some pens and some childs tops and it performs better than I expected. The vents for the control box are on the top permitting dust and chips to enter, not good. I installed a shield above to deflect the chips. A totally enclosed control box with an external heat sink would have been better. The tool post was not machined round. The drop forging left a vertical ridge on the post which causes the tool holder to misalign when tightning the tool holder with the handle. The threaded hole to accept the screws Item 47 were loaded with over spray red paint. Easy to fix if like me you have the proper tap. I bought the lathe to take with me in my RV to continue my hobby on the road. The lathe is exactly what I wanted and will afford me many hours of pleasure.

I bought my Carba-Tec Tec 4SE based on my experience using a friend's machine, so I knew what to expect. I am very pleased.

I just got this lathe last month and have been making pens and pencils ever since. I've never used a lathe before and I really like it. It runs smooth and quiet, and the cast iron construction makes it very stable, yet is not too heavy for me to move when needed. Making pens is simple, fun and impressive! I'm very happy with it - works great.
