The reviewers who liked this pen blank probably didn't drill with the .491 twist drill bit supplied with the kit. I would like to finish the Broadwell Septre pen I have but don't want to take the chance of ruining another expensive pen blank.

Make sure what your turning will have thick walls. While it finished beautifully on the lathe twice I've had the barrels crack at the tip when assembling. Not sure I'll try this blank again anytime soon.

I love trustone. They are opaque and provide a very fine finish with the right process. Sharp tools and light cuts are required though.

Probably looks good if you can get one that survives the drilling process. I tried with two of these...one of the four peices survived drilling. The other three split, with a huge chunk breaking out of one side. After the first one split, I tried drilling in half-inch increments, but it still split through. There's wood that looks this good...less expensive and easier to work.

I found this material easy to work with. As with any material I suggest you work slowly and not rush the drilling or turning. I sanding up to 600 grit then used EEE Ultra Shine. As a final step I finished up with the two highest grits of the plastic polishing kit pads. What an outstanding finish! It looks and feels like glass. It does a great job complementing the higher end pen kits.

Great looking trustone blank. The ladies like them because they look soft and elegant. They make a pen look high class.

I worked on a yellow tru stone blank for the first time, what I found is that it was difficult to work on. I had to keep sharpening my tools once I was trying to shape the blank. This was time consuming, difficult and boring and I still had a couple more blanks to work on but they were the white and gold stone. I almost wanted to return the two I had but decided to anyway give them a try the next day. I'm glad I did because it was not difficult to work on the white ones like the yellow one. Anyway, the final results for the yellow and white ones were spectacular. I used them on the very high end pens the Broadwell and the Majestics and I was truly happy with them.

I turned this material with mixed thoughts at first. The name trustone is deceiving. It is easy to cut, drill and turn. The finish is incredible with a nice Acrylic polish. The results are stunning.
