stabilized mapleThis blank requires sharp tools and a gentle hand, the end result is great...

hard to turn but make a beautiful penThis blank was hard to turn as it chipped very easy. I found out that it was easier to first get down to the rounded shape and then sand from there. Considering the amount of experience I have with making these pens, it was difficult and requires a light touch. It makes great pens though especially with the gold finishes

Stabilized MapleThe piece of "Stabilized Spalted Maple" that I received was broken along a crack & was unusable. If the shipping hadn't been more than the cost of the maple, I would have sent it back. I'll Never order another!

very niceTakes on a real nice shine. goes good w/ gold trim pens

Not what I expected!!!I got a stabilized buckeye burl and a stabilized maple burl blank and was disappointed with both. THey were like grey ashes with a very little wood mixed together and glued. They cracked and chipped very easily when turned. I've turned with wood and acrylic blanks before so it wasn't because of inexperience or not using sharp tools. They were a disappointment and looked nothing like the pictures.

spalted woodsThe spalted woods, including the Maple, are some of the most gorgeous woods in the world. I make pens from the Spalted Maple, Tamarind, Oak, Beech and Sycamore which are my favorites.

Wow...I've purchased these blanks 2 times now, both times the quality and figure in the wood has been superior to blanks I've found locally at one of the "major chain" woodworking stores. This sure makes a beautiful pen.

Fantastic Product! This was the first piece of stabilized wood that I've ever turned and I was very pleased with the results. The final finish on this was amazing!
