I had the opportunity to cut and cure my own blanks from a tree growing locally. I was so impressed with the beauty and workability of the wood (especially the red and blue streaks in the wood). I made a pen and pencil set for my father and sent it to him as a gift. They were so nice that I had to get this blank for a set of my own. The set came out perfectly. I paired it with a copper finished pen kit and it draws some serious attention when I sit down at a conference table at work. I really like Box Elder and the stabilization made it even easier to work with.
