I used this blank to make a polaris pen. With a sharp scraper, it turned really nice. I used the one-step plastic polish to give it a crystal clear finish. The pen looks amazing. It's worth the money. My only complaint is that the blank is really big, and it takes a long time to get it down to normal pen size.

This type of blank is the most difficult pen I have ever made. First of all, DO NOT USE TURNING TOOLS to make this pen. The plastic used here is not the same as other plastic blanks. To turn this blank you will need a Bastard File, a file card to clean the file, and dust collection. The finished blanks will be larger in diameter than the bushings. Use your band saw to knock off the corners. Mount the blanks as usual. Set the speed below your normal speed. Start filing the blanks, using the file card and tapping the file to remove the plastic. Resist the urge to use your scrapers, gouge or skew on these as they will cause a blow-out and ruin the blanks (I speak from experience). When near the final dimension, start sanding w/ 150 grit thru 600. Finish with plastic polish and buff.
