I'm still a novice at pen turning, so I was concerned with this blank. It was more difficult to work than most, but not the worst I've done so far. I did have to be very careful after the initial coarse turning as I was trying to make a conforming contour, but with patience I was successful. The color was deep purple on one side and a lighter blue on the other, and they swirl together like oil on water. A fantastic looking result. The blank is not transparent at all so the brass will not show through. I highly recommend it but it is not quick one to do. Will do it again after I sample other blanks.

I picked this blank because the picture in the catalog showed that the blank was purple and blue, but when I got the blank it looked nothing like the picture. It is actually aqua and light blue. It is also much harder to turn even with sharp tools. All and all it was not at all what my customer thought it would be.
