Turned out very nice

I was a little worried when I first got this blank, it was crooked and had a large chunk missing out of the center. had to fill in with CA and let sit for a few extra days before I turned it. But, the finished product was very dramatic, definitely would recommend as long as your willing to put in the extra effort.

Hmmmmm......

The blank has great color and grain but for all intents and purposes, came to me in two pieces. A huge check in the wood made it snap apart easily at about 2/3 the length of th blank. While It will still make a great pen, it does limit it's usefulness. Bottom line - great piece of wood, but in two pieces.... I am not sure if this piece should hav made it through the 'hand selection' because of this huge defect. I know that bark inclusions and small checks are not considered defects, but this one went all the way through the piece.....

This wood gives you unique color variations. The stabilizing really makes it easier to turn and finish.

Barry Gross Buckeye Burl

Turned out to be a great looking pen. Not to happy with need to use a good supply of ca glue to stabilize the blank at areas that were open at knot locations.

Nice, really nice select piece of stabilized wood. Well selected and straight too!

The picture looked much better than the actual blank that I received. There was not near the color that was pictured in the catalog.
