Nice, but fragile

I purchased the 9 premium pack of Barry Gross stablized blanks. They look pretty good in general. The buckeye burl was gray and blonde in color with various black streaks. Several of the other blanks are very fragile, especially when you have thin sidewalls next to the bushing. Also, be prepared to fill voids (soft bark inclusions) with something, like crushed semi-precious stone. Overall, I am somewhat satisfied, but would not purchase the 9 blank pack again, and would select individual blanks based on how each individual blank turns and looks from the pack. The best ones I have turned so far are the black ash burl, and redwood lace burl. Both had fewer voids, and better overall integrity, and very attractive figure.

The blanks I recieved were well figured however they were very dark and did not resemble the picture in the cataloge.

Final color of the blank

The blank I received was completly black. None of the color you see in the description photo was present. I was very disappointed with this product. I will not order this item again.

Not Happy

With the selling point of being a signature blank one would think there would be some nice character and burls.....wrong!!!The blank I got was just a Grey piece of wood with a black speck here and there.If it was not such a hassle I would send it back for a refund!!
