The grain in this wood is just beautiful and smells like flowers when you turn it. I have had problems with 2 blanks though. One blank was about 1/3 sap wood and PSI replaced it. The replacement had some rot in it making about 1/2 of it unusable, sad because I really like this wood and it's not cheap.I have ordered more and am hoping for the best.It also harder than some woods to sand, kind of like sanding a bar of soap even through it is not soft wood.

This is my first time to take tulip wood in my hands. The blanks are perfectly sized, no cracks or damages. Well coated for storage preservation. Did not have a chance to turn it yet but look is really great. The same I can say for turning blanks of padauk and bloodwood which I ordered at the same time! Wonderful pieces of very nice wood. The only wish - I would prefer a bit bigger blanks of tulip wood and bloodwood (2x2x12" instead of 1-1/2x1-1/2x12") next time if available.

This wood is one my best selling pens. It turns great and has great color and smells nice.
