I find this to be a nice hard wood. Takes a good finish. It also has a nice tight grain.

I have used this wood several times to make pens. What makes this wood different is the black lines are like solid strings. Using very sharp tools to prevent blow-outs, the wood takes a very nice shine. I suggest buffing to get the best finish. Also known as Panga Panga.
