Be careful with diagonal cut blanks

I had a couple of these blanks shatter or come off the brass when I was turning them. Be sure to use sharp tools, and perhaps go with 100 grit sand paper before you get it down to the bushings. Makes a beautiful pen, but count on lossing a blank or two if you are too hasty.

Found these blanks difficult to drill in long lengths. Used the PSI drill bit and cleared the bit frequently but still cracked several blanks. Tools used: Floor standing Delta drill press with table clamps.
