A great shop additionI have waited a while before writing this review to make sure that the unit performed well and I was not biased by a new piece of equipment. Well, this has been one of the best purchases I have made for my shop. The design service was excellent and the Tempest works great! In fact, I had become so used to having this system ducted to all of my equipment that I did not realize just how well it worked until I had to cut some sheet goods with a circle saw and the amount of dust generated in the shop was amazing, it was everywhere. I guess I'm spoiled now. There are a couple of recommendations I would make to a prospective buyer; get the remote it is well worth the cost, and think about the muffler this amount of air flow could use some noise reduction. By the way the staff is great too!

Works well, motor poor qualityThe unit looks great, works well, and the price is affordable. Our system installed April 2008, our usage of the system would be considered moderate. The one cubic yard collection container has been full less than a dozen times. The motor has developed some issues and will need replaced. For the price, a good place to start. To make the system top notch, I would recommend to the manufacturer use a quality motor and charge accordingly.

Wow, what a differenceI'd like to thank you for help during the design process of my dust collection system. Both Bill & Nick were outstanding! Bill helped me to choose the Tempest 1535S. I have eleven tool drops, three floor sweeps and a total of 21 blast gates converted to the Tempest 1535S. Nick was a huge help in designing the ductwork. The CAD drawings sure helped to shorten my runs, place my order and made installation a breeze. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the premium ductwork was to install. The first time I used my dust collection I planed about 200 board feet of silver maple. I had no plugs, the air was clean to breath and clean-up was a snap. Wow, what a difference. Thanks guys, you and the Tempest 1535S made my dust collection system a success.

Thanks for great product and serviceOn behalf of Henderson County Habitat for Humanity, please accept my thanks for both the excellent product and technical services that you provided. Upgrading our Habitat for Humanity warehouse shop dust collector to a Tempest 1535S has resulted in a significant improvement of our collection and handling of shop dust. Increased static pressure and air flow provided by the Tempest at each of our machines has resulted in major reduction in uncollected debris for operating machines and an overall improvement in shop cleanliness. The shop location permits exhausting the cyclone to the exterior, with no visible material. Our system configuration, designed by your Penn State technical service personnel, has four drop feeds linked to the cyclone with fifty feet of main line piping. Collection efficiency is satisfactory with any combination of open blast gates. This obviously simplifies our instructional operating procedures for all volunteer operators that have limited experience with machine tools. It is also important to mention that everyone is delighted with the system's lower ambient noise level. We are very pleased with our decision to upgrade our shop with a Tempest cyclone.

Sincere AppreciationI wanted to write to you and offer Penn State my sincere appreciation for your assistance in the completion of the dust collection system for my wood shop. I had my shop built around 12 years ago and hired a company who sold and installed dust collection systems for industry, to design and construct my dust collection. They installed a cyclone collector, metal ductwork, and manual gates. Since that professional installation 12 years ago, I have had to replace my 3hp electric motor four times, install different sized pipe, and install small portable dust collectors to some stationary tools, all in an attempt to develop an efficient system. This year I decided to replace the whole system with a Penn State designed system. I purchased the TEMP1535S Cyclone, EcoGate automatic gates, and the BINSENSOR sawdust collection drum alarm. I installed the new metal ductwork exactly as designed by Penn State, and connected the automatic gates. I am happy to report that my new dust collection system works perfectly. I have more than enough suction from all stations, including wall outlets for 2 1/2" hose used for cleaning the floor. I want you to know that I really appreciate your products, knowledge and your patience while assisting me with this project.
