Turncrafter Pro 1/2HP Midi Lathe

I like it! I’m not entirely new to wood lathes but I wanted a smaller size for my limited work space and the midi size proved to be just the ticket for me. I’ve turned about a half dozen small bowls on it now and am enjoying every minute. The handle for locking the tailstock was damaged when I received it but after one phone call, three days later I received another in the mail with no charge to me. It’s a great little lathe for the money.

Newbie

I was in need of a small lathe so I could turn some wood for a leathercraft project. I checked out many lathes. I ordered the Turncrafter Pro mainly because of the price and the reviews. At first I thought the reviews were wrong because of so many 5's. This lathe deserves a higher number than 5, and Penn State also deserves a number higher than 5. The quality of the lathe and everything I have ordered is just amazing. This lathe was easy to set up, runs true, and has all the necessary options I would ever need. I have not turned wood since 1968 in High School and I must say I made no only the right choice but the best choice. I would recommend this lathe to anyone.

Solid and well made

In one word...Sweet! Going from my first small lathe to this one was like going from a Yugo to a Mercedes! I wish I could have afforded the variable speed option but that will have to come later. Very smooth running and plenty of power. I highly recommend this lathe to beginners as well as more advanced turners.

Turncrafter Pro - Great 1st lathe!!

This is my first lathe and so far I'm really enjoying it. Seems very solid. I also got the extension bed although I haven't used it yet. Changing belts is easy although it would be even easier with a drop down door and not one that you have to unscrew a thumbscrew to get to the belt. But that's a minor issue! Get this lathe and enjoy!!!

Good little machine

The speed of fulfilling my order was a plesant suprise and the product quality exceded my expectations. I will continue to order through Penn State in the future with confidence.
