I bought these "super blanks," and others in different woods, because I wanted to turn out a large number of pens quickly. One thing I hadn't picked up from the catalog is that that are drilled from both ends, so there is typically a section in the middle where the holes aren't aligned. Once I discovered it (there was a note in the package explaining it) it wasn't a problem for the slimline pens I was making, but in some cases the offset was great enough that it would have been a problem for European or other, larger diameter, pens. I bought three different woods....tulip wood and cocobolo was of good quality, but the zebrawood was exceptionally dry and two of ten shattered while I was turning them.
