Disaster

This is by far the worst pen kit I have ever bought. I ordered 4 kits and extra refills and now have to send them back. The kits I got did not have an instructions so I downloaded from PSI. The instructions are wrong, you can not insert the twist mech to the indent line. It will be inserted to far. There is no way to take it apart to change it. Others have had problems so BEWARE.

Great Kit, Could Be Better

The kit itself is great and easy to turn. A couple of problems I ran into: - Out of 3 kits, 3 of the 6 bands had flashing left on the inside. The last thing I want to do after turning a pen is sit there with a mini file removing flashing so the band would fit over the mechanism. - Inconsistent cartridge depth. Because you need to attach these mini ink cartridges to a screw cap, the depth of their attachment can completely mess with how far the pen tip extrudes when twisted. There's gotta be a better way. Overall happy with the kit though and will continue to buy it.

Great Pen! Needs some work

Great Pen, Fun to make and looks great! , But did have problems with depth of twist mechanism, and not knowing what color ink you will get till you have it in your hands makes it really hard to order as a gift for people

Nice Kit

Made a couple of these for some teacher friends of mine. They did like them but ink goes pretty fast so be sure to buy some extra ink to go along with them.

A fun pen

I made a couple of these for my kids school teachers last Christmas. The pen was fun and easy to make. I enjoyed turning different colored woods to resemble the ink color on each end. The twist mechanism is similar to the designer pen and may take a couple test fits to get just right.

The pen is a great idea. Looks good and easy to make, but it does have what I think is an engineering error. After cutting all the lengths to the exact size and pressing in the twist mechanism the refill is about 3/8" short of comming out the pen tip. After talking to tech. support,(VERY GOOD by the way),he sugested pressing the twist mech. in more. I had to press the twist mech. in WAY past the it's brass and 1/4" of the silver cylinder area into the front tube to get it to work. It's now getting stiff to turn open. This could be and easy redesign. I wanted to order more but won't until the issue is fixed. I don't know if PennState has any means to notify us when the product has been mofified. It would help me to decide when to order more kits.

Great CHRISTMAS GIFTS. Had a litle trouble with the depth of the cartridge mechanism. Had to go farther with it. But soon figured it out.
