This is a great starter set for the beginner. I had never turned before, and was able to turn my first pen within a couple of hours after receiving this kit. The only thing missing from this starter set is the sandpaper. Although economical with the starter set, I'll be upgrading the 3 piece tool set to HSS. Overall, a good value and no complaints.

Best way to get into pen turning. Comes with just about everything you need (but be sure to order the sandpaper at the same time!). Results are practically guaranteed!

I ordered this kit and received it in just a couple days. The kit included everything to get started, I turned out a few pens and pencils that I gave to some graduating nieces and nephews. They really like them. The kit is very easy to follow and setting up was very easy.

This kit gives the beginner a great start for making pens. You receive the proper mandrel for the pen and pencil kits in the set. This and the other items take the guess work out of starting this as a new hobby. You also get the proper chisels and glue. Being able to use everything in the kit to start and complete your projects make as excellent beginning plus saving money on items you will definitely use.

Great starter kit. I would recommend the pen chisels and sandpaper rolls if you can swing the extra cash, well worth it.

Overall this is a good starter kit but I didn't need the tools and would have preferred a less expensive kit without the tools.

This set was very helpful in setting up to start turning pens. With just a couple other items you are well on the way. I would not have known to get an adjustable mandrel and I am so glad that I have one for all of the other turnings I have been able to do with it.

The basic pen making starter ser was received and was very helpful. The blanks being pre drilled was very helpful because I did not have my drill press yet. The dvd was extreamly helpful, after reviewing it several times I was able to turn a pen the first time.
