This is a very well designed tool. If it gets dinged-up in your toolbox you can easily put it back on the lathe and dress it up. When turning the knob you can get creative. The only thing that matters is how it feels in your hand. I made my first one out of iron wood and it will be around forever.

This project was very easy to turn and looks beautiful. This was a special request from my wife so I wanted to make sure it looked good. I used mahogany and it turned out great. She loves it. Now I'm getting more requests.

This is an easy project. Also makes a nice gift and you can't have too many awls in your shop. I was impressed with the quality of the parts and will probably make more awls for my friends.

It was very easy to turn a handle and put this Brass Scratch Awl Kit together. I was surprised by its quality, and the tip of the awl is very hard and resistant. The overall feeling is very good.
The kit contains good quality parts. I was satisfied with the finished project, but not overwhelmed. I do my turnings with a faceplate, so that might have contributed to the difficulty in turning. All in all a good product.
