4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Solid drill bit lacks brad point

I had been waiting for 2 months to make a high end pen with one incredible olive burl wood blank I had. The kit required a 7/8 blank and mine was a little under 5/8. I was fairly confident I could still do it if I was dead center. When I got the kit a saw this bit was not a brad point I almost didn't make it. What I did do was start the hole with a smaller brad point bid and then use this bit. The end result was perfect and a tight fit for the tube. I assume they are using this because they can't get it in a brad point. It can be done but use extra care.Note: they say this bit is equal to 12.5 mm.

Lack of a brad point tip on this huge bit makes this bit impossible to control, even when 1st using a pilot hole. Use only 1" square pen blanks, anything smaller will only "ruin your day" and test your frustration level, not to mention lighten your wallet.

The drill bit arrived without being fully sharpened to the point and will not drill at all.
