Overall the mechanism in this kit works well. beginners should beware that cutting the tenon and fitting the center band requires some good measuring. Have fun turning

This kit is a bit more labor intensive than the others in that it requires you to create a very precise tenon for the center band to go around. The Classic design uses the same band but does not require the tenon. It's not that hard, just another point of aggravation if you screw it up.

The fun line kits are a great value and go together well. The different finishes are great. The ink in some of the kits seemed to run out rather quickly.

I've made several pens using these kits. The only problem I've had with these kits is the twist mechanism fit a little tight. A little light filing and problem solved. The gun metal and satin gold are a nice change from polished gold. These kits are a great bargain at these prices. I'll be ordering more soon.
