Designer 24kt Gold Twist Pen

I have made several of these pens and they have all come out looking great. Using the special bushings makes the tenon cutting very simple. I am looking forward to trying the new NT version of this pen. It should make the process even more simple.

Easy enough pen to make, you just have to be carfull cutting the tenon that is required for the center band.

Very happy with this pen

I received my first Designer as part of a combo pack. I was a bit apprehensive as drilling then turning two separate sizes along with a tenon brought up images of a mistake which would not allow for the final assembly. I planned on using some scrap maple for trial runs/practice. Fears quickly gave way as I carefully progressed through this pen. The instructions were easy to follow, paying careful attention to the tenon portion. Consequently I have purchased several more which have been a popular item especially as I have also used Corian for the blank material. It is a comfortable pen, balanced and quite stricking. With a Corian blank it has been well received as a quality "everyday" pen that maintains a "good" feel without losing that shine. My one contribution is to spend the small amount by purchasing the Sizing Sleeve Bushing Set. It will make the process of making the tenon soooooo much easier. I would give it a 5 but nothing is perfect, more in line of a 4.5 rating. BOHICA

Designer Pen Set

I have made over forty of these pens and can say I really enjoy them. The Designer has a simple and elegant look and is easily turned. However there is one tiny flaw with a few I have completed and that is the mechanism when pressed into the the barrel will slip in easily and does not have enough friction to keep things lined up properly and will tend to push in and out. I really like this pen kit and will certainly be making more. Thanks again Penn State for a good product at a reasonable price.

Good value

I've made about 12 pens and really like this design. Nice weight and easy to make. The best of my pens was done in local Manzanita... a dense, blood-red wood. Showed it to someone who asked "are you a jeweler? This pen is elegant."

Great pen for the money

Great pen kit for the money. Stands up to everyday use for the past 2 years just fine. Good quality and reliability. Cheap to make but still makes a statement when presented as a gift. Well worth the investment.
