My Favorite Pen Kit - plus a helpful hint

This kit makes an absolutely beautiful pen. In addition it has the advantage that it is very easy to assemble particularly inserting the mechanism, a task I do not always find simple on other kits. With this kit you never have to worry about the mechanism being in too far or not far enough. Now the hint, it is so easy to insert the mechanism that it should be glued in place. I believe the best way to do this is with 5 min epoxy. BEFORE inserting the cap nut put a little epoxy on the point of a toothpick and insert the toothpick one inch into the top. Keep the toothpick away from the sides until it is in the one inch then rub the glue around the sides of the tube. Then pull out the toothpick and right away insert the cap nut, then push in the mechanism until it is flush with the wood (often can be done with just your fingers). Then put a little epoxy on the tenon and place on the center band. DON'T get any glue on the lower part of the mechanism or it won't work. You can guess how I know this. :-)
