Pen Mandrel

I was in need of a pen mandrel and I wanted the screw on mandrel instead of the #2 taper. Just what I needed.

This is a great value and adds accuracy to pen turning. It is made well and runs true and without the axial force that can deflect a mandrel. Very frustrated turner

I bought this mandrel and a "mandrel saver". I cannot keep the mandrel shaft from coming unscrewed from the end that screws to my lathe. I have to say though that I don't know if it is the mandrel itself or the mandrel saver.

Used the new mandrel to make some pens and the first day the shaft bent, so I am not very impressed with this unit. Needs to be stronger to work well, and I have made hundreds of pens, and many with Penn State mandrels without problems.
