Gatsby loose tips

Make sure you check the tips of these kits before they leave you. Lately I've found loose tips that needed to be stabilized with CA. Otherwise, great kits because the transmission is turned with the cap, not the barrel as with older kits (and Sierra kits).

Failed Twisted Caps

The Gatsby is a beautiful pen without a doubt. However, I am very disappointed with the unreliable twist cap. I ordered five more pens (V2) after trying the starter’s package. Two of them failed with the twist cap. The black part of the twist cap is separated from the cap body and spins off forever. I literally have to grab the metal part of the cap and twist to open/close the pen. It shouldn’t be this hard. Next time, I am going to order click pens instead.

I have made tons of slimline, trimline & funline pens. I finally decided to take a step up and try these. WOW, these babies are sweet, especially using burl wood. they look like a million bucks and are easy to assemble

Great Pen!

This has to be the easiest pen of all to make. The single piece, great working mechanism make it a quick product to make. With the right piece of wood, it is stunning. I actually spend much more time on finishing than turning and sanding; it's that simple.

gatsby and big ben pens

The Gatsby and Big Ben pens are both excellent looking pens and great sellers. They are easy to make and look and feel luxurious. I finally got to keep a Gatsby for myself. My wife really liked the combo pen for Christmas. It is stylish and practical.

Gatsby pen--gotta love it!

This is such an easy pen to make, and looks so classy when it's done that it really makes a great gift item. The fit and finish are flawless, and it feels great in your hand, especially if you like pens with a little "heft". I've made the Gatsby click pen as well, but I think it gets a bit top-heavy, and I like the slightly lower profile of the twist model. Make this pen with a piece of burl stock and you'll be very pleased.
