I really like the looks of this pen. Very rich looking. It is pretty easy to assemble. However, since I was unfamiliar with the pen I found out there is no tolerance for any variance on the barrel length. My error, but with some pens you can still make it work, with the Gatsby you can't. I will definitely reorder and be more careful on future pens.

Very affordable higher end pens, they do well with acrylics and exotic woods and enable me to sell a very nice pen at a reasonable price.

As a first time buyer I thought the "starter package" would have EVERYTHING than I needed for my first pen. I did not realize that an acrylic blank was not included with the pen mechanism.

love the mechanism on this pen - makes it look very high class and does exotic woods justice.

The Gatsby was easy to turn and assemble. You have a nice long piece of wood to display the wood's fancy grain.

The Gatsby Pen kit is awesome. It is very easy to turn and assemble. I have made several of these as gifts for people and have received high praise. They absolutely love the pen.

When you start turning pens... its hard to make slimline pens, exciting shall we say... I tried inlays and different shapes... but there was always something missing, the weight and the balance... I just finished a gatsby in olivewood and it's simply stunning ! The weight, the balance, the way it feels and writes will certainly take your woodworking projects to the next level... especially if you use nice burly woods ! Try it and you will not be disappointed.

Very easy to make, one of the easiest yet. One tube blank drilling was nice for a change. Great starter pen for people who can follow simple instructions.

Made my first 3 Gatsby's from the combo/starter kit and sold all 3 the next day. Fit and finish are great for the price range.
