Something wrong with this penAs another reviewer noted the tip bushing is not the right size for the kit. The plastic retaining insert is not right either. The plastic retainer does not hold the pen together. Took a retainer from a Woodcraft Classic American pen kit and it is the right size. This pen kit ain't right.

Big Ben RollerbalI bought two of these kits because I like the Big Ben style, and wanted something with a snap cap in a roller ball. Both of mine were in chrome. One must be careful with the retaining clip, as they are easy to break. The instructions call for using a Phillips head screw driver, but the post from the clip assembly that screws into it prevents this. It would be nice if they at least offered a tool for this. I’ll probably make one rather than order it from somewhere for just that one tool however, if I’d had the chance, I’d have probably ordered one with my initial order given the chance. I left too much wood on the cap, so it’s top heavy, and will need to be reworked. Another thing of note is that the instructions call for the regular Big Ben bushings used in the ballpoint version. This would be fine, except the tip bushing is too small, and when I turned down to that diameter, it left the barrel over turned. The other bushings match, but not this one, so don’t make the same mistake I did, and turn the end cap end of the barrel down to the tip bushing. On a positive note, the fit and finish are very good. The plating on this pen is better than some of my more expensive cigar pen sets. I did start to notice that the plating on the black enamel parts is thin, and can already see the brass coming through after just a couple weeks of being in my pen binder. This pen has a heavty, solid feel, and looks good with the all metal parts. Unlike some of the other larger rollerballs, the tip section on this pen is a bit on the narrow side, having to step down for the snap cap.
