Backordered item disappointingBeing a new turner, my overall impression is these seem to be very good tools for the price. Some of the tools needed to be sharpened before use, but that's to be expected and wasn't a big deal. My biggest issue is the parting tool is on backorder and it will take me six weeks before it is shipped. PSI didn't even know I was short on the item until I called them about my order. It's hard to finish a project if you don't have all the tools.

Chisel setThe six piece set seems to be of good quality, consisting of heavy duty blades and handles. The only down side is that not all of the tools were sharp enough to use right out of the box. A few minutes of honing was able to remedy this though.

Not Best valueOne broke the first week - looked like weak metal near the handle. A second had a handle break. One third of the tools out of order in the first 3 weeks.

woodturning toolsThese tools are of good value and quality. They hold there edge and after four turnings have not had to sharpen them. After using more expensive tools they are of surprisingly good quality for what they cost.

Quality ProductThe set of Benjamin's HSS lathe tools have turned out to be the best quality for the given money! So far they are holding a keen edge and I have not had to sharpen.

have only received 4 of the 6To date I have only received 4 of the 6 chisels in the set. Therefore, I rated it as 4 stars instead of 5. If I were to only rate those that I have received I would rate them as 5 stars.

Benjamin's Best Value lathe chisel setI'm new to wood turning and wanted to get a basic set of chisels to learn how to use each one and learn which type tool I liked best. I have had other more experienced turners tell me they bought several expensive tools when they started and now wished they had started with a more economically priced set till they got some experience. I bought the this set based on customer reviews and the article in WOOD Magazine. The chisels are fairly well manufactured and came relatively sharp. The bevels were a little lop sided on the gouges, but a trip to the grinder fixed that. The rest were well ground. Overall a good set of chisels for the price, especially for someone just starting out.

Wood Magazines ChoiceI had read about this particular set in Wood Magazine. I usually agree with their assessments and this time was no different. The six piece set is well made and compares favorably with brands offered at specialty woodworking shops but for a much better price. The chisels arrived well sharpened (I may have to touch up a bit here and there, but this is common with any cutting tool regardless of brand.) I always look for the best price but never at the expense of quality. In this case this product came through in both areas and I will be "recycling" the saved money to buy other cool stuff from PSI

chiselsGreat value for a full set of chisels.

Good value. My first experience with turning. These tools were sharp out of the package and are maintaining their edge. A great starter set.
