This is a great tool. Well balanced and with the length needed to clean out a deeper bowl. 5/8 shaft decreases chatter on an extended overhang. Holds an edge well for HSS.

An excellent buy for the money. Plenty of heft to dampen vibration, plenty of handle -- like the several other PSI turning tools I have, it's hard to beat. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

I enjoy using this 5/8" gouge. It performs just as well as tools that cost many times more. I do not have to sharpen in any more often.

Often, when hollowing out a large bowl, even a ½" gouge isn't enough. The first great advantage of this 5/8" bowl gouge is it's size, 25% larger cut than a ½" gouge which really cuts down the time spent on the grunt work of hollowing the bowl before I get to the fun-part of decorating it. This product has another advantage, which is also sometimes a disadvantage: it's quite aggressive in it's cutting action which allows fast cutting but sometimes leads to very unpleasant catches. It's taken me the better part of a month to get comfortable with it whereas it only took me a day to get the same degree of facility with the Sorby ½" bowl gouge, but they're vastly different grinds which each have their strengths.
